Common support requests

Battery replacement

Each button takes a single A23 battery. The light on the button will flash or be weak when the battery needs to be replaced.

Adding more call buttons

A B-99G display panel takes up to 256 buttons, a wristwatch 200 and an LED light 99. Tell us your panel model and we will confirm what you can add.

A call point that is not getting through

This is usually distance or building construction. A signal repeater is normally needed beyond about 200 - 250 m in line of sight.

Reporting software

The PC or Laptop for the software must be able to run Windows 10 or 11. The software can be minimized, but must be kept open at all times and the PC must not go to sleep.

Software downloads

Warranty claims

Single Key Call buttons carry 5 years while other Call buttons and panels, LED lights carry 2 years. Wristwatches and signal repeaters carry 1 year.

Wristwatches

Charging port replacements and other repairs can be done by your local electronic repair shop once the watch is out of warranty.

Healthcare and nurse call systems

Which products are available for a healthcare nurse call system?

The current range includes B-A1-WL and B-A1-BC single-key buttons, B-SW2 and B-SW-G33 call-and-cancel wall units, B-700 LED receivers, B-650 wristwatch receivers, B-99G and B-901 display panels, W900 desktop software and the B-Q4 signal repeater.

How far can a call button transmit?

The range is between 100–150 metres depending on the surroundings. Walls, steel and the building layout affect the signal, and an on-site test determines whether B-Q4 signal repeaters are needed. An estimation can be given based on the information provided.

Can healthcare call buttons be used in bathrooms and showers?

Yes. The BellMe nurse call system includes waterproof call-point options for bedsides, bathrooms, toilets and showers. The B-A1-WL can also be worn on a lanyard.

Which receivers can alert healthcare staff?

A facility can use a B-99G or B-901 display panel, B-650 wristwatch receiver, B-700 LED light receiver, or a suitable combination of these products.

What is required for W900 reporting software?

The W900 desktop software requires the smart gateway, a router with an internet connection and a PC or laptop, with the components connected by LAN cables. The PC or laptop must be able to run windows 10 or higher.

What warranty is stated in the nurse call catalogue?

The warranty varies from product to product with a five-year warranty for the B-A1-WL single-key call button.

Technical

What frequency does the BellMe system work on?

The BellMe system works on a 433.92 MHz radio frequency. The frequency cannot be changed.

Do I need internet to use the BellMe system?

No. The system does not require an internet connection to operate. You only need internet once, to download the reporting software; after that the connection is no longer needed.

How do I know if I need a signal repeater?

You will start needing signal repeaters when the distance between the calling point and the receiver reaches around 250 m in line of sight. The surroundings and construction of the property affect this, so the only accurate way to confirm is a site inspection and test.

Compatibility

Will our Wi-Fi, two-way radios, cellular or medical equipment interfere with the system?

No. The system runs on 433.92 MHz and will not interfere with that equipment, or be interfered with by it, unless the other equipment also runs on 433.92 MHz.

Does BellMe offer an intercom that works with the nurse call system?

The BellMe wireless nurse call system does not use intercoms, as that requires wiring. Speak to a consultant about options for two-way communication using cameras that work over Wi-Fi.

Are BellMe products compatible with other nurse call systems?

BellMe does not recommend mixing another manufacturer's items with BellMe products. Our system works on 433 MHz and we cannot guarantee that another system will be compatible.

Installation

What are the PC requirements for the reporting software?

The PC or laptop must run Windows 10 or higher and must stay switched on while connected to the network by LAN cable.

What wiring does the system need?

The buttons are wireless and run on batteries. Each display panel, LED light and signal repeater needs a power source. We recommend dedicated plug points in the ceiling so they are not unplugged by mistake. Display panels and LED lights are supplied with 12 V power cables with a 2-pin plug, and the B-Q4 signal repeater with a 9V1A supply. We recommend running them through a UPS.

Feature

How long does a call button battery last?

Each call button takes an A23 battery, the same type used in electronic gate remotes. Battery life is typically six months to two years, depending on use. Some clients have reported batteries lasting considerably longer even.

Can the button be used in a shower or bathroom?

Yes. The call and cancel buttons are 100% waterproof and can be mounted in a shower or toilet, or worn on a lanyard.

Warranty

What warranty do BellMe products carry?

Single Key Call buttons carry 5 years while other Call buttons and panels, LED lights carry 2 years. Wristwatches and signal repeaters carry 1 year.

Pricing

Is BellMe a rental or a once-off purchase?

All BellMe products are a once-off purchase. There are no rental contracts.

What the system does not do

Please read this before ordering, so the system matches what you need.

  • It does not detect falls automatically — the user must press the button.
  • It does not connect to a mobile phone or send SMS or app notifications.
  • It does not include two-way voice communication. There is no intercom.
  • The frequency is fixed at 433.92 MHz and cannot be changed.
